Scaffolds Studio is a creative space where ideas, stories, and craft come to life.
We design and produce thoughtful creative work across education, storytelling, and visual culture, while also offering a hands-on ceramics space for making and learning.
Our studio supports experienced ceramic artists and makers through open studio slots, and welcomes beginners through ad-hoc introductory ceramics classes for adults and children. From time to time, we also invite professional artists to conduct masterclasses for those who want to deepen their practice.
We are also connected to a wider creative network, including our Kyoto gallery partner, NUTSHOUSE — a playful arts space that hosts exhibitions, workshops, and artist-led programmes.
Whether you are shaping an idea, developing your craft, or exploring clay for the first time, Scaffolds Studio is a space to create with care, curiosity, and purpose.

Classes, open studio, masterclasses, private bookings and exhibitions

Hands-on ceramics classes for children, inspired by tactile art, formative play and spatial learning. Children learn by touching, shaping, building and experimenting with clay, while exploring texture, form, balance, colour and three-dimensional thinking.

Open studio sessions for experienced ceramic artists, sculptors and hobbyists with prior clay experience. Makers can work on their own projects, develop their practice and create at their own pace in a shared studio setting.

From time to time, Scaffolds Studio invites practising artists and makers to conduct masterclasses. Each session offers a focused opportunity to learn specialised techniques, explore different creative processes and gain hands-on insight from artists working across ceramics, sculpture and other craft-based practices.

Block book Scaffolds Studio for a private, scaffolded programme designed and facilitated by us. Suitable for small teams, families and groups, these sessions can be shaped around ceramics, improv or other creative experiences for team bonding, special occasions or customised group programmes.

From time to time, Scaffolds Studio runs art exhibitions in collaboration with our Kyoto gallery partner, NUTSHOUSE. These occasional showcases create space for artists, makers and creative communities to share work, exchange ideas and explore new forms of artistic expression.
